On Sunday morning, April 17 Mudiad Meithrin will hold a sponsored walk along the prom in Aberystwyth. There are many benefits to such a walk, but we intend to raise money for the local ‘cylchoedd meithrin’ (Welsh-Medium playgroups), ‘cylchoedd Ti a Fi’ and the Mudiad itself; and we want to encourage everyone to join ‘Prams on the Prom’ with us on this lovely journey along one of Wales’s most beautiful proms.
The route is 1.2 miles and we welcome children and their families to complete the walk either by walking or being pushed in a pram / pushchair / wheelchair, or even on a bicycle. This is an opportunity for families from different areas to come together and walk as “Un Teulu Mawr” (‘One Big Mudiad Meithrin Family’) and a good opportunity for young children to get some fresh air and exercise by raising money for their local ‘cylchoedd meithrin’ and the Mudiad.
This will be the first in a series of walks that will be organized by Mudiad Meithrin. We hope to visit other parts of Wales and also provide an opportunity for groups to raise funds in different areas.
Dr Gwenllian Lansdown Davies, Chief Executive of Mudiad Meithrin said:
“Fundraising, and financial viability, are two of the main challenges facing cylchoedd meithrin and cylchoedd Ti & Fi. What better way to raise funds than by taking part in a huge sponsored walk led by Dewin – the Mudiad’s mascot. Everyone is invited and you needn’t be in a pram to take part!”
