At 9.15am on Wednesday 7 August, more than 200 children aged between 2 – 5 years old from Cylchoedd Meithrin (Welsh-medium playgroups) and Cylchoedd Ti a Fi (Welsh-medium parent/carer and toddler groups) in the Conwy county area will star in the Pasiant Meithrin (Nursery Musical) hosted by Mudiad Meithrin on the Main Pavilion Stage at the National Eisteddfod of Wales in Llanrwst.
The Pasiant Meithrin is organised by Mudiad Meithrin and the performance will last approximately 20 minutes.
Mudiad Meithrin is responsible for organising and co-ordinating the Pasiant Meithrin, called ‘Parti Dewin’ (which translated means ‘Dewin’s Party’) and the performance will last approximately 20 minutes. There will be an opportunity for the audience to join in the singing as the children take them on an imaginary tour around the county of Conwy to find the location of Dewin and Doti’s birthday party - Mudiad Meithrin’s unique characters.
Iola Jones, Head of Partnerships and Communications for Mudiad Meithrin, said:
“Because Dewin and Doti are celebrating their 10th birthdays, ‘Dathlu (Celebrating)’ is the theme that pervades all our activities this year. The celebrations started with Parti Piws Mwyaf y Byd (The World’s Biggest Purple Party) on 10 April when 12,856 people took part by wearing purple on that day. Consequently, ‘Parti Dewin’ (Dewin’s Party) is the title of the Pasiant Meithrin at the National Eisteddfod of Wales in Llanrwst which will be led by Dilwyn Price, and it’s certain to be an energetic and joyful performance!”
Nia Wyn Jones and Elin Medi Hughes, Mudiad Meithrin Support officers in Conwy, said:
“The children are delighted to take part, and it will be an unforgettable experience for them and their families to perform on the stage of the National Eisteddfod Pavilion. The Pageant will be a lively and colourful performance and an excellent way of celebrating Welsh-medium education at its best by young children from the county of Conwy.”
Following the performance several parties will be held for all the children who took part in the performance at Mudiad Meithrin’s stand. Each child will be presented with a certificate to remind them of the special occasion as well as a book published specially to celebrate Dewin and Doti’s birthdays, entitled ‘Y Parti Piws’ (The Purple Party).
Carys Gwyn, Mudiad Meithrin’s North-east Wales manager, and one of the Pasiant Meithrin organisers, said:
“We are extremely grateful to all involved for their co-operation which has enabled us to stage the Pasiant Meithrin this year, especially to Dilwyn Price for leading the Pageant, to Elin Rhys for accompanying on the piano, and of course, to all the local Cylchoedd Meithrin and Cylchoedd Ti a Fi staff, leaders and the parents who have been busy preparing the children for this special performance – and most of all to all the children who will be the stars of the show.”
