Mudiad Meithrin will host the climax of an innovative new competition, the launch of an exciting new project as well as stage the annual Nursery Pageant during the Urdd National Eisteddfod held in Cardiff Bay between 27 May and 1 June this year.
One of the highlights of the week, as always for Mudiad Meithrin, will be the Pasiant Meithrin (Nursery Pageant) when more than 100 children from the Cardiff area will perform on the Urdd National Eisteddfod Pavilion stage at the Millennium Centre at 9.45am on Saturday 1 June.
The 2019 ‘Meithrin Talent – Talent Meithrin’ competition will also reach its climax on that day. The aim of the competition which is jointly organised by Mudiad Meithrin and The Urdd is to find new talent to entertain young children between 2-4 years-old and their parents.
The two who have reached the short-list are Siân Elin Williams from Pencarreg, near Llanybydder and Lois Glain Postle from Bodedern, Anglesey. They will perform at various locations at the 2019 Urdd National Eisteddfod site on Saturday 1 June. The winner will have the opportunity to perform during one of the shows as part of the 2019 Dewin and Doti Festival held in June.
Later on Saturday 1 June at 2.00pm Mudiad Meithrin welcomes the popular Welsh-language children’s television character Heini to its stand to launch a brand-new show for the young children of Wales as part of the annual Dewin and Doti Festival which is part of celebrations marking the 10th birthday of Mudiad Meithrin’s likeable characters.
The ‘Dathlu gyda Dewin a Doti (Celebrating with Dewin and Doti)’ show will be performed in venues all over Wales between 10-29 June.
Iola Jones, Mudiad Meithrin’s Head of Communications and Partnerships Team said:
“We are extremely excited by the various activities the Mudiad is offering on our stand on the Urdd Eisteddfod grounds this year. The ‘Meithrin Talent-Talent Meithrin’ competition is very innovative for us as an organisation, and of course we are looking forward to enjoying the children’s performance in the Pasiant Meithrin as well as the excitement created by Heini launching this year’s Dewin and Doti festival.”
As usual, there will also be a host of events and activites held throughout each and every day at the Mudiad Meithrin stand, including face painting, playdough, song, story, and dance with Dewin, daily visits by S4C’s CYW presenters, and much more.
