On Tuesday 11 September at 10:00am Mudiad Meithrin will hold a Public Meeting at Monmouth Library to discuss opening a new Cylch Meithrin (Welsh-medium playgroup) in the area.
The move is part of Mudiad Meithrin’s ‘Set Up and Succeed’ (SAS) programme to establish 40 new Cylchoedd Meithrin with a Cylch Ti a Fi (Welsh-medium parent and toddler group) attached by 2021 in specific areas of Wales where there isn’t a Cylch Meithrin at present.
It is expected that these new Cylchoedd Meithrin will be able to provide a variety of services including, potentially, the Chilcare Offer (30 hours of free childcare), Flying Start and Education.
The project also springs from Mudiad Meithrin’s response to the Welsh Government’s ‘#Cymraeg 2050:a Million Welsh Speakers’ Welsh Language Strategy which places special emphasis on the contribution the Early Years has to make to reach the target of a million Welsh speakers by 2050.
Mudiad Meithrin Chief Executive, Dr Gwenllïan Lansdown Davies, said: “You don’t have to be a Welsh speaking family for your child to attend as the majority of children attending Cylchoedd Meithrin are from non-Welsh speaking homes.”
