Jamie Roberts is the latest rugby star to give his support to Wear Red for Wales and Velindre, which is being supported by Mudiad Meithrin.
Mudiad Meithrin is kindly asking every child in Cylchoedd Meithrin across south Wales to wear red on Friday, 2nd February, and donate a pound to raise money for Velindre Cancer Centre.
The campaign, which is being launched a day before Wales play Scotland in the Six Nations, promises to be a loads of fun with activities such as dressing up, colouring in posters and face painting.
On a visit to Cylch Meithrin y Parc in Cardiff, Jamie Roberts said:
“I was fortunate enough to start my education in a Cylch Meithrin before going on to study at Ysgol y Wern and Ysgol Glantaf in Cardiff.
“My parents don’t speak Welsh, so attending a Cylch Meithrin was an excellent way to start learning Welsh and then it was a natural step to receive Welsh language education in school.”
Dr Gwenllian Lansdown Davies Chief Executive of Mudiad Meithrin said
"Jamie Roberts is a national hero to many in Wales regardless of age so it's great to see him acknowledging the role played by the Cylch Meithrin in his own development. So many of those who go to a Cylch are, like Jamie, from homes where Welsh is not spoken. We look forward to supporting this important cause"
