Gwen a Mair ac Elin
Ceinwen Davies visited Cylch Meithrin Llanfairpwll to sing a nursery rhyme called "Gwen a Mair ac Elin".
This is a song about a three girls who eats a lot of pudding, then the little boy called Benja gets really angry and cries extraordinary (anghyffredin) – maybe because the three girls have eaten most of the pudding and that there’s none left for him?
Ceinwen Davies remembers her mother singing this song to her and her brother, as her brother liked his pudding a lot. When Ceinwen had her own children her youngest would always ask for pudding before he had finished his lunch, and the whole family would sing this song around the table. At the cylch meithrin the children made some pudding and got a chance to eat it as well as singing this song. ‘Gwen a Mair ac Elin’ is Ceinwen’s favorite nursery rhyme.
“Gwen a Mair ac Elin
Yn byta lot o bwdin
A Benja bach yn mynd o’i go
A chrio’n anghyffredin.”
