This qualification is offered for high school students in year 10 + 11 only. It will prepare the students to work in a supervised capacity, with children and their families in a variety of settings and environments within the sector of Children’s Services.
This Award/Certificate Level 2 course is equivalent to 3 GCSE’s –

What will you be studying?
This course looks at different aspects of Child Care. Units of study include the following:
An introduction to working with children
The Developing Child
Safe, healthy and nurturing environments for children
Children and Play
Communication and Professional skills within Child Care and Education
How you will be assessed?
The course is introduced and assessed through the medium of Welsh. The assessment method includes a Multi choice question paper, Assignment tasks, and a Portfolio of work.
Progression from this qualification
After successfully completing this course, you can go on to study at a higher level, such as CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Children’s Care, Learning and Development, or go on to work in a Child Care setting – e.g. Nursery Assistant in a School, Day Nursery or Cylch Meithrin.
(After successfully completing the Certificate stage of the level 2 course in year 11, students can, if they wish, go on to study the Level 3 Children’s, Care, Learning and Development Diploma course (QCF) in year 12 and 13).
