Wednesday February 17th, Mudiad Meithrin has been informed by Welsh Government that its tender for delivering the new ‘Cymraeg i Blant/Cymraeg for Kids programme has been successful.
The aim of the programme Cymraeg for Kids is to increase the number of Welsh speakers amongst young children. The Cymraeg for Kids programme reinforces Mudiad Meithrin’s work ensuring that a clear pathway from birth to school age is available in Welsh where early years care and education are concerned.
The main aim of the programme is to:
• Support parents and prospective parents to introduce and use Welsh at home
• Support parents to enable their children’s socio-linguistic development
• Support parents to enable their children’s educational linguistic development
Dr Gwenllian Lansdown Davies, Mudiad Meithrin Chief Executive said:
“Mudiad Meithrin staff are delighted to hear this exciting announcement today. We are extremely proud of the opportunity to continue to lead and expand our work in the early years and to promote Welsh amongst young children and their families.”
