On Saturday, February 6, at 2.00 pm during the official opening of Mudiad Meithrin’s new Crèche at The Old Library (Yr Hen Lyfrgell) in Cardiff, the Mudiad launched its new anthem called ‘Un Teulu Mawr’
The song ‘Un Teulu Mawr’ ('One Big Family') is composed by songwriter and singer Carys John. Carys is an experienced actress and performer with her company Ffalala and conducts singing sessions, movement and dance sessions in nurseries, playgroups and primary schools in and around the Cardiff area. Carys is also a familiar face to toddlers through her numerous acting roles on various Cyw (S4C) programmes.
Carys John said:
"Having the opportunity to perform my song in front of the young children at the Crèche in Cardiff is a huge privilege, and it will be great to see their reaction. I'm sure everyone will be delighted with the anthem!"
Iola Jones, Head of Communications and Partnerships Team at Mudiad Meithrin said:
"We look forward to launching the Mudiad’s new anthem and to sharing it with the children as part of our celebrations at the opening of our first Crèche in Cardiff on Saturday. Carys is obviously very familiar in the art of entertaining children and she has composed a lovely and catchy anthem that sums up a child’s experience of enjoying developing through play at our cylchoedd, and making the children feel that they belong to the Mudiad’s large close-knit family."
This year Carys John will also perform at Taith Gŵyl Dewin a Doti (Dewin and Doti’s Festival Roadshow), when she will be touring all across Wales during the last three weeks in June. The tour will feature several performances on the theme ‘People who help us’ and amongst the dozen songs which will be part of the show will be the new anthem so that the children and their families can sing-along and join in as one big family.
"I look forward to presenting this song along with several other new songs for the children of Wales as part of Dewin and Doti’s Festival tour in June!"
