Under a new system of awarding grants, Cylch Meithrin Cemaes, Anglesey received the first £10,000 Mudiad Meithrin grant of its kind, to create an outdoor play area for the children. This is the first time a ‘Cylch Meithrin’ (Welsh-medium playgroup) has recieved such a large grant from the Mudiad’s central grant fund.
£81,500 in grants were awarded this year to a total of 200 ‘cylch meithrin’ ranging in value from £150 up to £10,000.
Gwenllian Lansdown Davies, Chief Executive of Mudiad Meithrin said:
"This year, we were able to increase the total grants directly paid by Mudiad Meithrin. We know that maintaining a sustainable cylch meithrin is hard work in terms of raising money, and so the grants fund are an important source of support. The fund's new look will encourage cyclchoedd to be innovative in their ideas, to expand their services and to overcome any obstacles to be able to register their provision with the CSSIW (Care Inspectorate). Congratulations therefore to ‘Cylch Meithrin Cemaes’ for winning the £10,000 grant to go towards improving and adapting the space outside the cylch for the children".
There was one grant of £10,000, 2 grants of £5,000, 5 grants of £2,000, 10 grants of £1,000 and 182 smaller grants ranging from £150 - £400. The grants in all cases are assigned to a specific use e.g upgrade technology at the cylch, new windows for the building or to create a new children's play area outside.
