You might already have heard about the development of the Early Years Development and Assessment Framework (Fframwaith Datblygu ac Asesu’r Blynyddoedd Cynnar) by Welsh Government. The aim of the EYDAF is to standardise the assessment of children’s development up to age 7 across the health and education sectors.
One key aspect of the EYDAF is the Foundation Phase Profile (Proffil y Cyfnod Sylfaen). Although the FPhP is not a statutory requirement for pre-school settings, we are encouraging you to implement it in your setting. It provides a means of recording children’s achievements and progression during their time at the setting, as well as assisting with planning for the next step sin each child’s development.
Some of you might already have received training, or will soon be receiving training, on the Foundation Phase Profile from your local advisory teachers. In order to support the Process of introducing the FPhP to your setting, we will be providing training to Mudiad Meithrin registered settings in the coming months through academi. Further details will follow during the autumn term.
