Mudiad Meithrin’s National Officers wish to announce that Dr Gwenllian Lansdown Davies has been appointed at the Mudiad’s new Chief Executive.
Gwenllian Lansdown Davies is originally from Bangor but lives in Montgomeryshire. She studied French and Spanish at Oxford and lived for a while in Galicia before completing a Masters and PhD in Political Theory at Cardiff University where she also taught as a politics tutor. After being elected to Cardiff County Council in 2004, she also worked as Office Manager for Leanne Wood AM in the Rhondda before being appointed Plaid Cymru’s Chief Executive in 2007. Since 2011, she has worked as a Publications Officer for the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol and as the Editorial Assistant for the journal ‘Gwerddon’. Gwenllian is involved with many voluntary organisations including the local Literary Circle, Merched y Wawr and the Political Archives Group at the National Library. She has two young daughters and lives with her husband, Arwyn Groe, on a farm in Llanerfyl.
“To work for Mudiad Meithrin will be a great privilege. The Mudiad – and therefore the Welsh language – should be present wherever there are children. They, at the beginning of their young lives, should be encouraged to flourish through play and adventure”.
Gwenllian will commence her new duties at the beginning of July, when she will shadow Hywel Jones, the present Chief Executive, for two months, until he will retire at the end of August.
