At 12.30pm Friday, 4 October the Official Opening of Cylch Meithrin Garden City, Sealand Flintshire, will take place in the company of Aled Roberts, Welsh Liberal Democrat Shadow Minister for Education.
This is the first ever Welsh-medium childcare provision to be offered to the parents of Garden City, and it’s the only childcare provision that exists in Seland.
Mudiad Meithrin and Flying Start have been working in partnership over the recent years to ensure the success of this Welsh-medium provison in an area that is so close to the English border. Children from the Garden City Flying Start area will be able to attend the provision for free. The cylch meithrin is open every morning from 9.15-11.45, Monday-Friday, and can accommodate up to 16 children aged 2-3 years old.
Carys Gwyn, Mudiad Meithrin North Wales Regional Director said:
“It’s very timely that the cylch meithrin is established in the area this year. The cylch Ti a Fi has been going strong here for a few years now, so the next natural step was to establish a cylch meithrin here. This provision will feed the new Welsh School in Shotton which is to open its doors in September 2014.”
Cylch Meithrin Aston in Shotton will also feed this new school.
Aled Roberts, AM said:
“It’s very pleasing to see the growth in Welsh-medium care and education in this area. The new Welsh School which will open in Shotton in September next year will be a means of ensuring that progressing on to Welsh-medium education is the next natural step for the children attending the cylchoedd meithrin, and enabling them to become fluent in both Welsh and English.’
Dewin, Mudiad Meithrin’s character who’s a friend to all the children of Wales, will also be present at the official opening!
