As Mudiad Meithrin’s campaign #CrucialCommittees gathers momentum, a member of staff is appointed to lead a project on the nature of the support desired by voluntary management committees running Cylchoedd Meithrin (Welsh-medium playgroups belonging to Mudiad Meithrin). Lou Stevens Jones is an experienced Support Officer having spent years developing and supporting the sector at the grassroots across south Wales.
Mudiad Meithrin Chief Executive, Dr Gwenllian Lansdown Davies said:
“Not everyone realises how much work and responsibility is involved with running a Cylch Meithrin at a voluntary level. From employing staff to finance/fundraising to compliance with CSSIW’s regulatory framework, the work is crucial.”
Lou Stevens Jones added:
“While Mudiad Meithrin has a package of support available to voluntary management committees including guidance and advice from a designated Support Officer to management guidelines, a members-only intranet, bespoke training and a direct helpline, there’s always room to explore new ways of supporting Cylchoedd Meithrin. Hopefully existing voluntary management committees will make the most of this opportunity to tell me about the support they require from Mudiad Meithrin.”
