As part of its 45 anniversary celebrations, Mudiad Meithrin will hold a different birthday party aiming to break a world record for the "the World's Biggest Pyjamas Party" on Tuesday, May 9th.
As Dewin, Mudiad Meithrin’s children’s character, did not have a pair of pyjamas for the occasion, a competition was held for children attending the cylchoedd meithrin (Welsh-medium playgroups) to design a pair of pyjamas for him. Bethan Williams from Cylch Meithrin Terrig in Treuddyn Flintshire was the winner of the competition. The prize is to see her design being transformed into a pair of pyjamas for Dewin as well as having a smaller version of the pyjamas herself.
On Wednesday, 1 February at 10:30, Ffion Aykroyd-Davies of Aykroyd & Sons in Y Bala will present the pyjamas to Dewin and Bethan at Aykroyd’s nursery located in Y Bala.
Ffion Aykroyd-Davies of Aykroyd & Sons said:
“When we heard that Dewin was looking for someone to create a pair of pyjamas for him, we jumped at the opportunity to help him because we specialise in creating pyjamas in all shapes and sizes. We are delighted with the winning design and look forward to presenting the pyjamas to Dewin at our nursery in Y Bala on Wednesday, February 1st."
Dr. Gwenllian Lansdown Davies, Chief Executive of Mudiad Meithrin said:
"Mudiad Meithrin is looking forward to hosting "The World's Biggest Pyjamas Party" as part of our 45th birthday celebrations and we aim to encourage all children and adults who attend our cylchoedd and nurseries to wear a pair of pyjamas on May 9th. This will be a fun way to raise funds for the settings as each child and adult will contribute a £1 each to wear pyjamas on the day (the proceeds to be kept by the cylch)".
Aykroyds & Sons, in co-operation with the Mudiad, have created a pair of children’s Dewin and Doti pyjamas as well so that it’s possible for the children to buy a pair of pyjamas to wear at the pyjamas party on 9th May if they wish (they don't have to wear these special pyjamas to take part – any pyjamas will do!).
"Although this will be fun-filled occasion, it should be noted that the party will promote the importance of learning through play, reading to your child and ensuring that your child gets a good night’s sleep."
Everybody is welcomed to participate and take part in our attempt to try and break the world record on May 9th. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org to express your interest.
