On Thursday morning, 14th April, at Mudiad Ysgolion Meithrin's Head Office in Aberystwyth, the Mudiad launched its new name and logo. The television presenter Angharad Mair, unveiled a special slate engraved with the new name and logo.
Hywel Jones, Chief Executive for the Mudiad said:
As the Mudiad celebrates its 40th birthday this year, we felt that this was a suitable occasion for the Mudiad to have a new name and image. The Mudiad has grown and developed from being an organisation that was formed originally to establish ‘ysgolion' meithrin (Welsh-medium nursery 'schools') throughout Wales, to an organisation of national status and acknowledged as the ‘Welsh early years specialists’. From today onwards the new name for the organisation will be Mudiad Meithrin.’
Following the unveiling of the new logo ceremony, the first activity celebrating the Mudiad’s 40th birthday was held in the presence of the Brodyr Gregory at cylch meithrin Aberystwyth (Welsh-medium playgroup). The Brodyr Gregory performed some of the new songs that they have composed especially to celebrate the Mudiad’s 40th anniversary in the company of the toddlers attending the cylch.
Here are a few photos of the event.

Paul Gregory composed new songs for us on the ‘celebration’ theme. These songs were placed on a CD which was sent out to all of our cylchoedd meithrin. The Brodyr Gregory performed these songs as part of the ‘Gŵyl Feithrin’ (National Nursery Roadshow) that travelled around Wales between 13th of June and 5th of July.
On the 8th of October, 2011 a special birthday dinner was held at Medrus Centre on the Aberystwyth University Campus. The guests were addressed by Catrin Stevens who gave a speech on the past 40 years of the Mudiad’s history and at the end of the afternoon a cake was cut by Geraint Ellis, Chairperson for the Mudiad.
